A paralegal cover letter sample can help you create the cover letter that works best for you. Here’s a paralegal cover letter template that someone might send to a hiring manager.

Dear Ms. Smith,

Throughout my many years of experience as a paralegal working in immigration, I have discovered that there’s nothing quite as exciting as accompanying a client all the way to the judicial hearing and learning that they’re officially a Permanent Resident of the UK. As a paralegal, knowing that I have filled out and filed all the legal documents necessary to help over 1,500 individuals find residency in the UK makes the job even better.

At the law firm I previously worked at, I regularly put my research skills to work in finding whatever information clients and attorneys were missing to file paperwork. The legal team knew they could hand a bit of information to me and I could quickly find the legal research that they were looking for. Plus, my strong communication skills always made me the first person that clients talked to when they had a problem.

I have helped many legal teams with my paralegal skills, and I would be honored to bring that skill set to your company as well. I look forward to discussing how I can use my knowledge to benefit your law firm.

Sincerely,
Destiny Shockley

Tips for writing your paralegal cover letter using this example

If you want to write a great cover letter to go along with your paralegal CV, you need to address your work experience, skills, and how you fit the exact job description the company is looking for. In other words, your letter should address the job requirements laid out by the hiring manager. Here’s how you can do that.

First paragraph: Introduce yourself with a hook and list your best achievements
You should start out with an introduction that has some kind of hook. Note that the applicant starts with a short story, talking about how she’s helped over 1,500 people get permanent residency in the UK, and this is the most fulfilling part of her job. This anecdote shows that you’re connected to your job. This immediately puts you over many other job seekers, as a recruiter wants to hire someone who’s going to be there for years to come.

Second paragraph: Provide more information about how you’re the best fit for the job
Now that you’ve gotten the hiring manager’s attention, you can give more information about why they should hire you over someone else. In this example, the applicant brings up her research skills, noting that they were extremely well-used in her last job. She also talks about how clients really liked her, showing that she can be a benefit to the company on a client-facing side as well.

Third paragraph: Call to action
The last paragraph is the call to action: “I look forward to discussing how I can use my knowledge to benefit your firm.” This is an effective way to request an interview without being too pushy.

It’s always a good idea to have a cover letter when you’re looking for a paralegal job. Not only does a professional cover letter explain your career goals, but it also allows you to ask for an interview. If you don’t feel like you’re good at writing cover letters, just use the CVHelp cover letter builder. When you combine it withCVexamples, you can write a great cover letter in no time.

Cover letters should usually be between half a page and 3/4 of a page. If your cover letter gets longer than 3/4 of a page, it can take up too much space and be difficult for a hiring manager to scan. If it’s shorter than half a page, it looks empty. Around 3/4 of a page is the perfect length for most cover letters.

If you’re looking to become an entry-level paralegal, you can still use this cover letter example. Just adapt your achievements to whatever experience you do have. You can talk about your educational background, past positions that are similar to a paralegal position, and internship or volunteer positions.
