What is a software developer CV?
A software developer CV needs to emphasize programming languages you are familiar with (i.e., JavaScript, Python, Oracle, etc.), any professional experience in the field, and any related software engineering skills you might have. There are three levels to software development: junior, mid-level, and senior. Junior software developers are typically recent college graduates or those who are looking for a new job or career change. Their CVs will reflect little to no work experience in the industry. Mid-level software developers will have more professional experience and require less supervision than their junior counterparts. Senior software developers are often the people creating the frameworks of new software or important systems. Senior software engineer CVs will have more project management experience as well. The CVs for each of these levels will differ based on:
- Technical skills
- Complexity of the software and frameworks
- Experience with various operating systems and/or troubleshooting issues
Formatting a software developer CV
The header of your software engineer CV should contain all your contact information, including:

- Email address

Professional summary/objective
The skills section should be a short list of six to eight bullet points that goes over what you’re best at in relation to the job. For a software developer, this can include the following:
