The first thing the hiring manager will want to know about you is your field of expertise as a painter. Unless the employer explicitly asks not to, you should always send a cover letter to accompany your CV. The cover letter allows you to expand on your skills and further tailor your application to the job description. You can also use the cover letter to explain any gaps in your CV.
You can still write a high-quality CV even without much professional painting experience. In this case, focus on skills, education and any volunteer or internship experiences you might have, as long as they apply to the job you want. Where possible, include links to previous painting projects that are relevant to the role.
As with any other CV, a painter’s CV should include a professional summary or career objective, skills section, work history, education section and contact information. Use the work experience and skills sections to tailor your CV to the specifications laid out in the job description.
